The Regional Centre for the Performing Arts in Africa (CERAV/Africa), a Category 2 Centre under the auspices of UNESCO, and the African Institute of Cultural Industries (IAIC) signed a framework partnership agreement on Friday, May 23, 2025, in Ouagadougou. This agreement marks the beginning of an ambitious collaboration between two major institutions dedicated to training, research, the promotion of the performing arts, and the development of cultural and creative industries (CCIs) in Africa. Areas of cooperation include, among others:
Hosting students for practical internships and supervising final-year projects
Continuing training for professionals in the cultural sector
Co-organizing scientific and cultural activities (conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.)
Co-publishing content and studies on CCIs and the UNESCO 2005 Convention
Sharing documentary resources and exchanging expertise between the two organizations
Etc.
This partnership fully fulfills one of the missions assigned to CERAV/Africa, which calls on it to strengthen cooperation with institutes and universities that provide training in cultural fields.
It aims to strengthen the creative, academic, and professional capacities of African cultural actors, while contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
CERAV/Africa and the IAIC promise bright prospects for training in the performing arts. Through this signing, the two organizations reaffirm their shared commitment to a strong, structured, and integrated culture at the heart of public development policies in Africa.
