Missions

In accordance with the provisions of Article 7 of the Agreement concluded with UNESCO and Article 2 of its special Statutes as EPSCT, the objectives assigned to CERAV/Africa are:

promote African performing arts in their diversity, taking into account all their creative potential and encouraging exchanges and cooperation between African countries;

assist the States cooperating with the Center in:

  •    the creation and strengthening of the conditions necessary for the development of creative capacities in the performing arts sector;
  •  taking measures to promote the cultural, social and economic dimensions of the performing arts;
  •   the integration of these measures into their development strategies;
  •  

work towards the collection of data and the exchange of information, expertise and good practices in the field of the living arts at the regional level, thus contributing to a better understanding between peoples and communities within and across Europe. outside of Africa;

promote, as appropriate, at the international and regional levels, the integration and joint implementation of policies and action plans concerning the protection, promotion, management, production and dissemination of the living arts and carry out , to this end, training activities;

encourage the development, at the African level, of joint visions, policies and strategies in the field of culture through the living arts and the cultural industries associated with it;

support in Africa the implementation of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.


Vision for 2026

CERAV/Africa is a center of expertise which works to revitalize cultural and creative industries in Africa through the development of the living arts, cinema and audiovisual and which supports member States in the implementation of efficient public's  policies, respectful of the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
