On July 15, 2026, the Regional Centre for the Performing Arts in Africa (CERAV/Africa) received a visit from Dr. Mahamadou Hassane Cissé, a lecturer-researcher and author of the new book titled *Discours des cinémas d'Afrique noire francophone post-coloniale (1955-2025) : Essai d'analyse sémiotique de l'espace filmique* (Discourses of Post-Colonial Francophone Sub-Saharan African Cinema (1955–2025): A Semiotic Analysis of Filmic Space).
Presented and launched on July 11, 2026, at Norbert Zongo University in Koudougou, this work is the result of ten years of research. It offers an in-depth analysis of the discourses within post-colonial Francophone African cinema using a semiotic approach, while examining the cultural representations, imaginaries, and issues surrounding the decolonization of knowledge conveyed by African cinematic works.
Aimed at students, academics, and professionals in the film, audiovisual, and cultural sectors, this essay represents a significant scholarly contribution to the discourse on the performing arts and African cinema.
During the meeting, Dr. Mahamadou Hassane Cissé presented his work to the Delegate General of CERAV/Afrique, seeking the institution's support in promoting the book among cultural stakeholders, researchers, and higher education institutions. He also presented a copy to the CERAV/Afrique resource center, thereby helping to enrich the center's collection.
