The Regional Centre for the Performing Arts in Africa (CERAV/Africa) is participating in the 8th edition of the Summit of Cultural Institutions of Africa and the Diaspora (SICADIA 8), held from September 8 to 13, 2026, in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco.
Representing CERAV/Africa at this significant gathering, the institutionâs General Delegate is taking part in discussions bringing together leaders and executives from African and Diaspora cultural institutions to address key cultural issues and the role of culture in building the continent.
Held under the theme "Reparations for crimes against humanity committed through the slave trade and slavery," this 8th edition aims to deepen reflection on the root causes of these historical tragedies, their legacy, and the pathways for envisioning reparative initiatives.
The proceedings include an inaugural round-table discussion dedicated to this theme, with the goal of generating proposals for action addressed to African decision-makersâparticularly regarding public policy, cooperation, geopolitics, education, and intellectual discourse.
The meeting also provides a forum for consultation among the continent's cultural institutions. Notably, a session of the RICADIA General Assembly is scheduled to evaluate the network's operations, the impact of initiatives undertaken, and prospects for expanding its membership. 
For CERAV/Afrique, this participation aligns with its mission to contribute to cultural cooperation dynamics across Africa and to foster reflection on issues concerning African arts, culture, and heritage.
Furthermore, holding SICADIA 8 in Rabat carries special symbolic significance. This edition is hosted at the headquarters of the African Capitals of Culture (CAC)âa member of the networkâreflecting a commitment to strengthening grassroots cultural development and acknowledging the role of culture in building Pan-Africanism..
